We use our hands for every imaginable event. We write, cut, hammer, hold and grab – we use our hands as a tool. A tool that works, that repairs itself. A tool to rely on. Our fingers are an integral part of this tool, they do not act alone. With no fingers, our hand is worthless, inoperative, no tools left. We work with our hand only on thing at a time. But is this acceptable in today‘s social pressure? „The faster the better!“ and „What you can do today, do not delay to tomorrow!“ Shouldn‘t we be faster, more efficient? Are all ten fingers really necessary to perform a single task? We are trying to optimize our everyday life in every occasion. Why not our hands? If we would actually make it possible for every finger to do a job, a fluid work would be impossible, our work would be blocked by sheer hindrance from ourselves. These are impressions of my hands and fingers. The hands are broken in places and contain errors; too much parallel work simultaneously. The partial damage shows how under pressure we harm our bodies and the quality of our work. On the other hand, we have single fingers: fine impressions without damage, illustrating the result that arises when focusing on one activity..They are harmonious and funny in contrast to the hands, which seem martial and brutal.
We shouldn´t forget ourselves in work.
We should be allowed to get lost in work.
